TC17 – MACsec Automotive Profile

MACsec is an important addition for onboard network security, development at some OEMs has already begun, but simplifying (taking away unused options) and making some specific adjustments (e.g. timeouts) is needed for the automotive sector. In particular, the key distribution scheme as specified in MKA provides many options, not all of which are highly suited for application in automotive.

TC15 – Multi-Gig Interoperability and Compliance Tests

With the expanding technology of Automotive Ethernet, the focus of the TC15 Committee is Multi-Gig Interoperability and Compliance Tests.

The following Subgroups will be established to focus on the following Ethernet topics:

  • PCS Test Spec for MiltiGBASE-T1
  • PMA Test Spec for MultiGBASE-T1
  • PHY Control Test Spec for MultiGBASE-T1
  • Interoperability Test Spec for MultiGBASE-T1
  • Transceiver EMC Test Spec for MultiGBASE-T1
  • System Implementation Spec
  • Advanced PHY Features
  • EMC Test Spec for ESD Suppression Device for MultiGBASE-T1

TC13 – New Test House Qualification Requirements

OPEN Alliance is working on PHY qualification over different speed grades. For a test house market where various test houses can be chosen to create the same result for PHY based on these specifications so that OEMs can decide whether the test reports from a test house reliable and equivalent, TC13 was established to coordinate the effort to define PHY test house qualification requirements.

TC12 – Interoperability & Compliance Tests for 1000BASE-T1 PHYs

The specific objectives or milestones that TC12 is currently working towards are related to the conformance test suites, two of which (PCS and PHY Control) are currently in the IP review process which ends on February 1, 2024. And the last one, the PMA test suite, is in its final phase of updating and is expected to have the ballot corresponding to the approval for IP review very soon.

The status of the tasks related to the improvements of the 100Mbit PCS and PHY control test suites is described below.

  • The group went through comment resolution after reviewing various editorial & technical comments and they were all resolved in Q2-CY23.
  • New PCS and PHY control test suite documents will be completed by Q1-CY24. The group will then review the final documents for final approval.
  • The goal is to have the final documents ready by Q1-CY24.

Once these tasks are completed, TC12 will slow down or cease its activities until new feedback arises that requires an update of the specifications.
